Gayle, a native of California, has spent most of her adult life working in Europe, especially in Spain. As her academic background shows, her interests range from economics to history and literature, and her research is focused on labor markets and development issues in a world that has been radically changed by the financial crisis. She is very visible in the international media, writing articles as well as being interviewed by the leading international press, radio and television on global economic issues. Outside of the university, Gayle has worked as both a writer and an economic researcher and analyst for prestigious institutions such as JP Morgan and The Economist Intelligence Unit. She travels extensively and is fluent in Spanish, with a good working knowledge of Italian and Portuguese. She resides in Madrid with her husband and five children.

Gayle es una nativa de California que ha pasado la mayor parte de su vida adulta trabajando en Europa, especialmente en España. Sus intereses cubren un amplio abanico de campos, desde la economía hasta la historia y la literatura. Como profesora su investigación se ha centrado en los mercados de trabajo y el desarrollo económico, lo que le ha aportado un conocimiento muy útil en un mundo que ha sido cambiado radicalmente por la crisis financiera. Gayle ha sido citada ampliamente en la prensa internacional, y es visible tanto en medios de imprenta como en la radio y en programas de televisión. Fuera de su vida como profesora en el Instituto de Empresa, Gayle ha trabajado como investigadora económico y analista para instituciones como JP Morgan y The Economist Intelligence Unit. Gayle domina el castellano ademas de tener un buen conocimiento del italiano y el portugués. Reside en Madrid con su marido y sus cinco hijos.
